This article introduces a new standard for evaluating diamond rough, highlighting the rarity and unique criteria that define its quality.

The Rarity of Only 0.02% of the World’s Diamond Rough
PERFECT Co., Ltd., a company involved in diamond import/wholesale and jewelry planning/sales, is advocating for a new value standard for diamond rough called “PERFECT ROUGH.”
“Diamonds are gemstones that undergo ‘grading.’ You’ve probably heard of the unit ‘CARAT,’ which indicates the weight of a gemstone.”
“In addition to ‘Carat’ (weight), diamonds have a quality evaluation standard called the ‘4C Grade,’ which includes ‘COLOR,’ ‘CLARITY,’ and ‘CUT.'”
“However… even if a polished diamond has a high 4C grade, if the quality of the ‘rough stone’ is poor, it will not shine beautifully. Just like cooking, where the quality of ingredients greatly affects the final result, the brilliance of a polished diamond is heavily influenced by the quality of the ‘rough stone.'”
“Diamond rough is a ‘rare gift’—carbon that crystallized deep underground, about 200 kilometers down, over 3 billion years, and was pushed near the surface by volcanic activity hundreds of millions of years ago. This process results in varied shapes, hues, and transparency, and all these elements determine the final diamond’s color and clarity.”

“Therefore, we propose a new grade called ‘Perfect Rough’ for evaluating diamonds from the rough stage. Currently, diamond rough is classified into three grades: ‘SAWABLE,’ ‘MAKABLE,’ and ‘NEAR GEM’… ‘Perfect Rough’ is a new grade positioned above ‘Sawable,’ which accounts for about 20% of gem-quality diamond rough.”
“Only about 5% of diamond rough can be used for jewelry. Within that, only about 15% yields the octahedral ‘Sawable’ rough. From that, we further select about 3% of diamond rough to define as ‘Perfect Rough.’ This represents a mere 0.02% of all rough stones.”
“We hope that this extremely rare ‘Perfect Rough’ will create a new market standard and serve as an aid for everyone to choose higher quality diamond jewelry.”
Selection is Handled by Experienced “Rough Diamond Masters”
“The selection of ‘Perfect Rough’ is performed only by ‘Rough Diamond Masters’ with extensive specialized knowledge and experience.”
“It’s a title granted only to masters with over 30 years of rough selection experience, who know everything about diamonds from mining to polished stones. The Chief Rough Diamond Master is Mr. David Horovitz, a world-class expert in rough diamond evaluation.”

“David’s family has led the diamond industry for three generations, and their accumulated methodology is highly trusted within the industry. A specialized team led by David, an expert inheriting this lineage, evaluates all rough stones visually to select ‘Perfect Rough.’ After cutting with a method called ‘PERFECT ROUGH CUT,’ they are polished using techniques honed over years of experience to maximize their beauty.”
Visualizing the Entire Process from Mining to Product: “Jewelry with a Special Story”
“Our company is also certified as the official partner in Japan for SARINE, a global company that develops and manufactures high-tech diamond equipment. Using SARINE’s cutting-edge traceability technology, it is possible to digitally track and record the entire process of natural diamonds from rough mining to polishing and the final product.”
“Because we can track every process, we can issue a certificate called the ‘PERFECT REPORT,’ which proves that the diamond rough meets various criteria. Additionally, it comes with SARINE’s ‘Sarine Light Report,’ a certificate that proves the beautiful brilliance of the diamond rough.*”
“This allows customers to know the ‘origins’ of the diamond they purchase, enabling them to develop a deeper attachment to it as a one-of-a-kind ‘piece of jewelry with a special story.'”
“Recently, the rise of secondary markets and ‘lab-grown diamonds’ has intensified price competition in the diamond industry, putting pressure on its growth. We believe that ‘Perfect Rough,’ which proves the value of natural diamonds from the rough stage and introduces them to the market at appropriate prices, can be a key to overcoming this situation and opening up a new diamond market. We aim to invigorate the industry through trust in quality and improved sales prices, while delivering the moving experience that can only be had by owning a natural diamond.”
