How to Get Uxie, Mesprit, and Azelf in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl

Before you can start capturing Uxie, Mesprit, and Azelf, you should know several key points about these Pokémon. First, these three Legendaries are Psychic-type (weak to Bug, Ghost, and Dark types), appear at level 50, and all three can be captured even before finishing the main story and completing the Pokémon League, similar to Dialga and Palkia. However, you can only go after them after following certain steps in the adventure.

To capture Uxie, Mesprit, and Azelf:

• First, you must free them from the clutches of Team Galactic.
• After obtaining 7 Gym Badges, you must go to Sinnoh’s three lakes to see what Team Galactic is plotting with these Pokémon.
• Once you visit the three lakes, you must travel to Veilstone City to enter the Galactic Base and reach the top floor, where the leader, Cyrus, awaits.
• After facing Cyrus, you can reach the room where Uxie, Mesprit, and Azelf are imprisoned. Finally, you must battle Saturn to free them.

After freeing Uxie, Mesprit, and Azelf in the Galactic Base, these Pokémon will be free in Sinnoh, and you can finally go capture each one in their respective areas. Remember that the battle against these Legendaries is unique, meaning they can only be captured once. It is recommended that before battling them, you manually save your game and disable autosave (so you can reload if you defeat them).

Keep in mind that if you defeat them, you will never be able to obtain them again in your playthrough unless another player trades them to you via online functions. You have been warned. Additionally, these three Legendaries can appear in their shiny version, so saving before battle is also useful if you’re trying to obtain their shiny variants.

Uxie and Azelf are relatively easy to capture, but Mesprit makes things quite difficult. In any case, below we show you how to capture all three:

Uxie, the Being of Knowledge, can be found in Lake Acuity inside the Acuity Cavern (only after freeing it from the Galactic Base in Veilstone City). To capture it, follow these steps:

1. Head to Snowpoint City.
2. Go west to exit onto Acuity Lakefront.
3. Enter Lake Acuity and use Surf on the water.
4. Go to the center of the lake, where you can enter Acuity Cavern.
5. Inside this cavern, you will find Uxie waiting calmly. Simply interact with it to start the battle and have the chance to capture it.

Mesprit, the Being of Emotion, can be found in Lake Verity inside the Verity Cavern (only after freeing it from the Galactic Base in Veilstone City). Unlike Uxie and Azelf, Mesprit is quite elusive and you cannot capture it as easily as the other two.

First, head to Twinleaf Town. Then go north to Route 201, and walk left to enter Verity Lakefront. Continue until you reach Lake Verity, where you obtained your starter Pokémon, and use Surf on the water to enter the Verity Cavern in the center of the lake.

Inside the cavern, Mesprit will be waiting, but as soon as you interact with it, it will flee hastily. Then Professor Rowan will appear and tell you to go search for it.

As soon as Mesprit flees, from now on the Pokémon will be jumping from one area to another constantly throughout Sinnoh. Therefore, you need to have the Marking Map app on the Pokétch, which you can easily obtain by speaking with the president of Pokétch Co. in Jubilife City after winning 3 badges (inside the Pokétch Co. headquarters building).

The Marking Map app is necessary to easily locate Mesprit, as otherwise it would be impossible to know where it is at any given moment. To have a wild encounter with it, you must follow these steps:

1. Open the Marking Map in the corner of the screen and leave it open; it will help you see Mesprit’s icon and its location at any time.
2. Every time you move from one area to another, Mesprit will jump from one location to another random spot.
3. What you have to do is manage to coincide with Mesprit in the same location at the same time.
