This article describes a luxury “Gold Edition” of the iPhone 13, reportedly priced at over $42,000. It is a customized version from a third-party company, not an official Apple product.

(Seoul=News1) Reporter Kim Jung-hyun = A 50 million won ‘Gold Edition’ has been unveiled for the Apple iPhone 13, which is set for its official domestic release on the 8th.
According to foreign media outlets like 91mobiles on the 2nd (local time), the Russian smartphone customization company Caviar has introduced the ‘Total Gold’ edition, which features the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max plated with 18K gold.
The price of the product is $42,390 (approximately 50.31 million won) for the iPhone 13 Pro model and $47,010 (approximately 55.8 million won) for the iPhone 13 Pro Max model.
Caviar is a company that annually sells customized mobile devices like iPhones and Galaxies, modified using precious metals such as gold and gems, for tens of millions to hundreds of millions of won.
Last year, they sold the ‘Solid Gold Unique’ edition, a modified version of the iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max models, for $45,080 (approximately 53.5 million won). They also introduced the ‘Katrina Calavera’ edition of Samsung Electronics’ Galaxy Z Flip3, adorned with platinum, rubies, sapphires, emeralds, and diamonds, for $46,460 (approximately 55.14 million won).
However, it appears that such ‘Luxury Editions’ do not often lead to actual sales.
While Caviar sells gold-plated versions of various smartphones released by Samsung Electronics, Apple, and Huawei, among the limited editions priced over tens of millions of won, the only product that has actually ‘sold out’ is the $71,080 (approximately 84.37 million won) limited edition ‘Huawei P40 Pro’, which was targeted at Chinese consumers.
Meanwhile, Apple began pre-sales for the iPhone 13 series in South Korea starting on the 1st.
Unlocked products sold on online shopping malls like Coupang, 11st, and SSG.com saw a hot response, with the first batch of pre-sales selling out within minutes of the pre-sale start.
Particularly, within this iPhone 13 series, the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max models have been the most popular.
The iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max models saw all batches 1 through 3 of their pre-sales ‘sell out’ within just one day of the pre-sale start.
