This meeting underscores the significance of the upcoming Sendou refinery inauguration as a key national project, highlighting the administration’s engagement with major industrial stakeholders.

The President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, received a delegation from the MAVAMAR Industries group, led by its Chairman and CEO, Mr. Souleymane Ndoye, in an audience this Friday. This meeting comes ahead of the inauguration of the group’s refinery located in Sendou, a major national industrial project.
The plant, whose official inauguration by the Head of State is scheduled for next week, will have an estimated production capacity of 600 tons of edible oils per day. This project represents a total investment of 60 billion CFA francs and is expected to create numerous direct and indirect jobs, with positive spillover effects on the local and national economy.
Discussions focused on the various challenges related to the launch of this industrial unit, considered strategic for the development of the agro-industrial sector in Senegal. The Sendou refinery is part of a drive for local processing of raw materials, reducing imports, and strengthening the national value chain.
Through this structuring initiative, the State reaffirms its commitment to making industrialization a key driver of economic growth, while contributing to strengthening food sovereignty. According to the authorities, support for productive investments and job creation remains a priority for public action.
The inauguration of this refinery thus constitutes a major step in the implementation of the national industrial development strategy, with the aim of positioning Senegal as a competitive player in agri-food processing in West Africa.
