According to a report by the English website Hindustan Times, industrialist Sanjay Kapoor, 53, died of a heart attack on June 12, 2025, during a polo match in England. He was the ex-husband of Karisma Kapoor and considered a close friend of Prince William. At the time, Sanjay was the Chairman of Sona Comstar, counted among India’s leading auto parts manufacturing companies. His last rites were performed in Delhi in the presence of family and close ones.

Priya Sachdev Takes the Helm

The report states that the reins of Sanjay Kapoor’s company have been handed over to his wife, Priya Sachdev Kapoor. She has been included on the company’s Board of Directors as an additional non-executive director. In this role, Priya will contribute to the company’s strategic direction but will not be directly involved in daily operations. This announcement was also shared by the company on LinkedIn.

Priya Sachdev Kapoor is a versatile entrepreneur and investor whose professional experience spans international and diverse sectors. Currently, she is a director at Aurius Investment Private Limited, where she plays an active role in shaping investment strategy. Her career began in London, where she worked as an M&A analyst at Credit Suisse First Boston. Later, returning to India, she established businesses in the fields of automotive retail, insurance, and fashion. She holds a BSc degree with a double major in Mathematics and Business Management from University College London.

Industrialist Sanjay Kapoor’s marital life has also always been in the news. He first married fashion designer Nandita Mahtani in 1996, which broke down after four years. After this, he married actress Karisma Kapoor in 2003. This marriage produced two children: Samaira (19) and Kiaan (13). After divorce proceedings began in 2014 and were finalized in 2016, Sanjay Kapoor married Priya Sachdev in 2017. The couple has a son, Azarius. After the divorce, Karisma received alimony of 70 crore rupees and bonds worth 14 crore rupees.
