Jinju City Delegation Expands Cooperation in Culture and Aviation Industries in France

A delegation from Jinju City, Gyeongsangnam-do, has embarked on expanding cooperation in the cultural and aviation industries during their visit to France.

Jinju City announced on the 25th that Mayor Jo Kyu-il signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Director Lee Il-yeol of the Korean Cultural Center in France the previous day to promote cultural and artistic exchanges and expand the overseas reach of cultural content. The agreement includes cultural and artistic exchanges, content diversification, and the expansion of global networks.

Mayor’s Vision for Jinju’s Cultural Content
“We aim to introduce Jinju’s excellent cultural content, such as Jinju Silk Lanterns and the Jinju Namgang Yudeung Festival, to France. We hope to promote an exhibition of Jinju Silk Lanterns for the 140th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and France in 2026,” said Mayor Jo Kyu-il.
Cultural Center Director’s Commitment
“We will actively consider hosting a Jinju Silk Lantern exhibition in France,” said Director Lee Il-yeol. “We will promote Jinju City’s cultural assets, such as the Jinju Namgang Yudeung Festival and K-Entrepreneurship, to the world.”
Meeting with Ambassador for Aviation Industry Support

The delegation subsequently visited the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in France and held a meeting with Ambassador Moon Seung-hyun. Mayor Jo explained Jinju City’s plans to foster its cultural and aviation industries and requested cooperation with France and support from the embassy.

“We will actively engage in supporting the Jinju Silk Lantern exhibition and cooperation in the aviation industry,” said Ambassador Moon. “We will also support connections with French aviation industry hubs like Toulouse.”
Promotion at UNESCO Conference and International Cooperation

Mayor Jo promoted Jinju City’s cultural industry, agricultural products, and festivals at the UNESCO Creative Cities Network annual conference. The Mayor of Al Ahsa, Saudi Arabia, announced plans to visit Jinju in October, expressing a mutual will for cooperation.
