It spotlights the work of female artisans and photographer Rinko Kawauchi, offering a unique look at the artistry within luxury design.

Cartier has been hosting various events since last autumn at the “Cartier Ginza 2-chome Boutique,” which is slated for renovation and has been named the “Maison des Métiers d’Art.” The final event, “Cartier’s Savoir-Faire,” is now open.
The exhibition spotlights, from multiple angles, the advanced techniques that give rise to the Maison’s creations and the creative activities that fuse talent and skill.
On the first floor, 34 works by photographer Rinko Kawauchi, shot at the Paris High Jewelry Atelier, are on display. The second floor features 20 female artisans, showcasing their portraits and the tools they use.
Further inside is a corner dedicated to glyptic (gemstone engraving) artisan Philippe Nicolas. Visitors can watch a demonstration by Mr. Nicolas, who has been awarded the title of “Maître d’Art” by the French Ministry of Culture.
On the third floor, artisans specializing in gemstone work and decorative painting demonstrate their techniques. Cartier commissions furnishings for its boutiques worldwide from renowned artisans, and the seven invited this time also have ties to the Maison.
Workshops where visitors can experience wax carving of the Panther motif and metal sawing are also being held. The event runs until February 23.
