A daring robbery was executed in broad daylight. Eyewitnesses reported that 6-7 criminals arrived on three motorcycles and took customers and bank employees hostage. They resorted to assault and, at gunpoint, broke open the vault and fled with cash and gold.
A major robbery involving gold and cash worth over Rs 2 crore has been reported from an HDFC Bank branch in Deoghar, Jharkhand. The incident was carried out in broad daylight. Eyewitnesses stated that 6-7 criminals arrived on three motorcycles and took customers and bank employees hostage. They assaulted some, broke open the vault at gunpoint, and fled with the cash and gold.
The incident occurred at the HDFC Bank branch located on Rajbari Road in Madhupur area of the district. Notably, this bank branch is situated directly opposite an RPF (Railway Protection Force) barracks. People reported that the robbers arrived around 12:45 PM. The criminals were wearing helmets and burqas to conceal their identities. They threatened and assaulted some customers and employees. They held customers, staff, and officials present in the bank hostage, tying their hands with tape. Subsequently, they looted approximately Rs 75 lakh from the cash counter and also robbed the customers present in the bank.
They broke open the locks of chests, packed all the cash into three bags, and also broke open the vault in the gold room to loot all the gold. The estimated value of the gold and cash loot is around Rs 2 crore. However, the exact amount of the loot and the gold is being assessed by the bank management. According to information, all the criminals fled after executing the robbery by around 1:20 PM.
After committing the robbery, all the criminals riding on three motorcycles managed to easily exit the bank and flee in different directions. Meanwhile, upon receiving information about the incident, police reached the spot and have begun investigating the case. Police are scrutinizing the CCTV footage from the bank and surrounding areas to identify the criminals.
