A single page from the volume “Asterix in Spain” (“Astérix en Hispanie”), which was first published in French in 1969, was auctioned in Paris.
In the auction held by the house Daniel Maghen, the page from the 14th “Asterix” volume, drawn, signed, and dedicated by the late Albert Uderzo (1927-2020), achieved a price of €166,750.

Its value had previously been estimated at between €130,000 and €150,000. The auctioned page depicts one of the famous brawls with the Romans, into which the title hero Asterix, created by author René Goscinny (1926-1977) and illustrator Uderzo, and his friend Obelix constantly find themselves.

The auction is far from the Uderzo record. The cover of the volume “Tour de France” (“Le Tour de Gaul”) was estimated at a value of €180,000 to €200,000 in 2017 and was later auctioned for €1.4 million.
From October 26, 2023, Story House Egmont will present the new “Asterix” volume. It is the 40th Gallic adventure. The new author, 49-year-old Fabrice Caro, known as Fabcaro, will be involved, as announced in a statement in December.
