A Busy Week for Auctions

The week of January 22-28, 2026, is a key period for the art and collectibles market. A series of busy design, modern, and contemporary art and collectible auctions will take place in Italian and international cities.

Italian Auction Highlights

The week kicks off with auctions from the Cambi Auction House. The Genoa-based firm will conclude its Antiques general auction on Thursday, January 22, and hold a Jewelry auction in Milan on Friday, January 23 (running until February 4). In Milan, activities continue at Il Ponte Casa d’Aste. Following the opening on January 21, this historic auction house on Via Vascello will proceed with its third and fourth sessions on Thursday, January 22, featuring furniture, paintings, objects, modern books, Oriental art, carpets, and textiles. For online valuable collectibles, Colasanti Casa d’Aste will hold a Jewelry and Watches online auction from January 21 to 30.

In Rome, on Thursday, January 22, Bertolami Fine Art will hold its 366th live auction at Palazzo Caetani Lovatelli: Oriental Art masterpieces from the collection of a gentleman of Buddhist culture and other prominent European collectors. Also, on Thursday the 22nd and Friday the 23rd, Capitolium Art will hold a virtual auction of 20th Century Design and Decorative Arts.

For enthusiasts of graphics and masterpieces from the 18th to 21st centuries, Galleria Pananti Casa d’Aste is hosting two important timed auctions: one for Authors’ Works from the 18th to 21st Century (until January 28) and another for Graphics and Editions (until January 29). Tuesday, January 27, remains a significant day, with Banca Cambiano holding auctions for Fine Design and Photography, Pandolfini auctioning Modern Artworks, and the long-awaited Archaeology auction arriving on Wednesday the 28th.

International Auction Calendar

The international auction schedule is equally packed. Thursday, January 22, kicks off with an extremely rich offering. Parisian auction house Tajan will hold an Oriental Artworks auction from January 22 to 29. Phillips takes a prominent position with its Evening and Day Editions auctions in London from January 22 to 24; while in New York, Christie’s opens the evening sales with the famous “Collector/Connoisseur: The Max N. Berry Collection – American Art Evening Sale”.

Meanwhile, Bonhams launches three auctions: a Fine Wine Selection in Denmark is ideal for wine collectors; an online Prints & Photography auction at Skinner in the US has concluded, while an online Fashion & Handbags auction in Paris continues. On January 23, RM Sotheby’s turns its gaze to Arizona for one of the most anticipated car auction events. On Friday, January 23, Dorotheum will host a charity auction for the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts.

The density of events peaks on Friday, January 23. In Paris, Hôtel Drouot will host a Classic Sale auction curated by Drouot Estimations. Simultaneously, Bonhams presents three noteworthy catalogs: in Paris, the focus is on “A Private Collection of Aboriginal Art”; in Sweden, the “China for the West” auction of export porcelain is in full swing. In the US, the spotlight is on the famous “The Scottsdale Auction” in Arizona, a celebration of classic cars. The same day, Sotheby’s concludes its “Contemporary Discoveries” online auction in London and kicks off a major catalog auction in New York for “Important Americana (including Early American Silver from the Collection of Roy J. Zuckerberg)”.

Over the weekend, Sotheby’s New York holds three thematic auctions on Saturday, January 24: American Art, The American West, and the spirits auction “The Great American Whiskey Collection”. On Sunday, January 25, while Sotheby’s auctions modern art in Singapore, Bonhams hosts a “Stamps” auction for philatelists in Denmark and a “Selected Watches – January” auction for watch enthusiasts in Sweden. In Finland, the Finnish art glass auction “Gunnel Nyman – Timeless Beauty in Glass” has concluded.

On Monday, January 26, Bonhams Denmark launches a Paintings, Furniture, and Miscellaneous auction, rounding out the week. Piasa’s online auction “Mode de vie Parisien #11” runs until January 26.

On Tuesday, January 27, Artcurial hosts a “Car Legends” auction in Paris. In New York, Christie’s remains active with a series of online auctions running from December 19 to January 27: “Collector/Collector: The Max N. Berry Collection of American Art Online” and “Collector/Collector: A Single Painting by Maurice Brazil Prendergast from the Max N. Berry Collection Online”. Two other auctions, “American Collectors: Including Property from Mr. and Mrs. John D. Rockefeller 3rd” and “A Selection from the Collection of President and Mrs. Jimmy Carter”, as well as “Rare & Fine Wine & Spirits, including The Screaming Eagle Library Collection: The New York Edition Online” conclude on January 27. Finally, Tuesday, January 27, is another auction day, with Sotheby’s Paris launching “From Doris with Love: The Personal World of Doris Brynner – Part I”, and Sotheby’s New York highlighting “Fine Manuscript and Printed Americana”.

Bonhams also presents a series of prestigious events: in London, the Jewelry online auction concludes; in the US, “Americana – Crafting a Nation” pays tribute to history; in Denmark, Modern Art and Design brings great design back. Also in Denmark, the weekly jewelry auction “Jewelry & Fashion” concludes on January 28.
