Enhancing Online Sales Competitiveness in Traditional Markets

[SEOUL=NEWSIS] Coupang and Coupang Eats Service (CES) announced on the 13th that they will provide approximately 110,000 eco-friendly packaging containers to Jinju Central Market in Gyeongsangnam-do to revitalize traditional markets.

This support is designed to enhance the online sales competitiveness of traditional market merchants and provide practical assistance in their digital transition by alleviating the cost burden of packaging containers.

Coupang and CES are proactively supporting the eco-friendly packaging containers needed in the initial preparation stage so that traditional market merchants can smoothly transition to online sales.

Merchants will now have the necessary conditions to prepare for online sales by securing packaging containers that can be immediately used for delivery services and more.

Furthermore, they plan to promote the spread of eco-friendly culture within the market by providing certification stickers to stores that practice eco-friendly packaging.

This support is a follow-up measure to the ‘Traditional Market Win-Win Agreement’ signed with the National Federation of Merchants last year.

The two companies have been preparing an online sales capacity enhancement program for Jinju Central Market merchants since January this year and will gradually conduct training for merchants going forward.

The program includes online sales strategy consulting such as store entry preparation training and support for professional photography of menus and products.

“For traditional markets to continue growing even in the digital age, securing online competitiveness is essential,” said Kim Myung-gyu, CEO of Coupang Eats Service. “We will continue to expand win-win programs that provide practical help to merchants and contribute to revitalizing the local economy.”
