This article highlights a unique collaboration between Jean Boulle Luxury Group and Rolls-Royce, showcasing how patented diamond finishing technology was applied to create a bespoke automotive paint finish for the 2017 Geneva Motor Show.

Jean Boulle Luxury Group (the ‘Group’) announced that its high-end diamond finishing technology, currently under patent application, was used on the paint of a Rolls-Royce Ghost exhibited at the 2017 Geneva Auto Show.
The Group collaborated with the Bespoke department of Rolls Royce Motor Cars Limited (RRMC) to participate in the development of finishing materials for a luxury car to be displayed at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. The result was a luxurious automotive finish with unique and incomparable beauty.
The Group ethically sourced 1,000 high-quality natural rough diamonds, imported in full compliance with the Kimberley Process. These diamonds underwent the Group’s proprietary selection, classification, degreasing, and oxidation processes to ensure the highest quality and luster. Subsequently, the rough diamonds were crushed into millions of crystals of precise shape and size. These diamond crystals were then washed, sorted according to various characteristics, and shipped to RRMC.
Considering the unique level of performance and aesthetic functionality this technology combines, the diamond compound could find diverse applications in other luxury fields, building on the Group’s success in the high-end automotive market.
The Group plans to launch an aircraft-grade diamond coating application later this year for use on the exterior of a private jet, which will require over 30 million rough diamond crystals. Testing of marine-grade diamond coatings for the superyacht sector is proceeding smoothly as planned at shipyards in the UK and Italy.
