This report details the recent acquisitions by the Gillier brothers, who have purchased the jewelry house Poiray from the AMS group and the brand Aurélie Bidermann, signaling a strategic expansion in the luxury sector.
According to information published by Les Échos, the Gillier brothers have recently acquired the jewelry house Poiray from the AMS group, which belongs to Jean-Paul Bize. They have also acquired the high jewelry and costume jewelry brand Aurélie Bidermann.
Since its creation in 1972 by François Hérail and Michel Hermelin, the Poiray house has changed owners several times. Acquired in 2013 by Jean-Paul Bize and his AMS fund, it has just been purchased by the founder of the brand Zadig & Voltaire, Thierry Gillier, and his brother, Arnaud Gillier.
According to Les Échos, the ambition of the Gillier brothers is to enhance the brand’s iconic pieces, establish a new artistic direction, and then target the international market.
Established in Paris in 1975, Maison Poiray achieved significant success in 1985 with its “Ma Première” watch featuring interchangeable bracelets. In 2005, during severe financial difficulties, Maison Poiray was taken over by Franco-Swiss businessman Alain Duménil. The jewelry house currently operates four independent stores in Paris as well as corners in the capital’s major department stores.
