The first quarter of 2023 saw continued strength in the colored diamond market, with overall prices rising 1.3% quarter-on-quarter. As the latest FCRF data highlights, this growth was primarily fueled by robust demand for yellow diamonds.
According to the latest data from the Fancy Color Research Foundation (FCRF), overall colored diamond prices recorded growth in the first quarter of 2023, driven by the strong performance of yellow diamonds.
The Fancy Color Diamond Index (FCDI) shows that colored diamond prices (including all colors and sizes) in Q1 2023 increased by 1.3% compared to the previous quarter and by 4.1% year-on-year.
Among all color categories, the Fancy Vivid category saw the highest increase at 1.7%, while the Fancy Intense and Fancy categories increased by 1.3% and 0.5%, respectively. In contrast, white diamond prices recorded a quarterly decline of 2.8% and have fallen by 17.6% over the past 12 months.
According to the latest figures from FCRF, yellow diamond prices rose by 2.1% quarter-on-quarter and by 6% year-on-year. The quarterly sales volume for pink and blue diamonds increased by 1.1% and 0.2%, respectively.
