This article outlines the commencement of voter list revisions in Uttar Pradesh ahead of upcoming Panchayat elections. The process involves door-to-door verification by Booth Level Officers to update electoral rolls.

Preparations for the three-tier Panchayat elections in Uttar Pradesh are in full swing. The voter revision work has also commenced from Tuesday, August 19. Under this campaign, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) across the entire state will go door-to-door to verify voters.
BLOs will contact voters to collect information about their names, addresses, age, and gender. They will also include the names of new voters who have completed 18 years of age in the list. The State Election Commission has released a schedule for this. Information has been issued by the District Magistrates (DMs) and District Election Officers of all districts. Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers have been appointed.
According to officials, this voter revision campaign will continue until September 29. The final publication of the voter list will be on January 15 next year, based on which the Panchayat elections will be held in 2026.
According to the information issued by the DM, voter revision work will be conducted from August 19 to September 29 in all three tehsils, 12 blocks, and 479 gram panchayats of Meerut district. For this, the administration has deployed 917 BLOs and 92 supervisors at the administrative level. All Block Development Officers (BDOs), Tehsildars, Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs), and Additional District Magistrates (ADMs) have been assigned responsibilities. SDMs and Tehsildars will monitor at their respective levels.
During the 2021 Panchayat elections, there were 1,338,181 voters in the 479 gram panchayats of Meerut district, with voting conducted at 2,346 booths across 866 polling centers. The revision will be based on this same voter list.
