This report details the season’s first rainfall in the district, noting its cooling effect and morning fog. It also highlights the mixed impact on local farmers and their produce.

The weather turned across the district on Thursday, bringing the first light rain of the season. The rainfall increased the chill. In the morning, fog covered the sky.
Following the change in weather patterns that started Thursday morning, the rain caused several farmers who had come to the agricultural produce market (mandi) to sell their crops to suffer economic losses as their paddy piles got soaked and water accumulated. According to information, due to good prices for paddy in the agricultural produce market, many farmers from Rajasthan and other states are coming here to sell their produce. Vehicles are allowed entry into the mandi after 11 PM for selling produce.
After gaining entry, many farmers, as usual, piled their paddy on the open platform. In the morning, after the sudden change in weather, water filled and drained from many farmers’ piles. Consequently, their paddy got wet. After the farmers’ paddy piles got soaked, they had to bear a loss of 100 to 200 rupees per quintal in price. Additionally, despite several farmers covering their paddy piles with tarpaulins on the platform, the heavy rain caused the piles to get wet.
Meanwhile, leaving aside the paddy piles lying on the open platform of the farmers, traders today started the auction process for paddy piles kept under tin sheds. While the paddy auction usually starts from platform number one daily, on Thursday, after the rain continued until 11 AM, an agreement was reached among traders and commission agents (aadhatiyas) to conduct the auction for goods lying under the tin shed. Following that, the auction and weighing work was carried out. After that, the paddy on the open platform was sold.
On the other hand, the drizzling rain caused losses as traders’ goods lying in the agricultural produce market got wet. During the rain, people made efforts to cover the goods to protect them from damage.
