Angola’s polished-diamond exports grew in 2025, despite the challenges in the global market.

During the year, Angola shipped 23,300 carats of polished diamonds, an increase of 127% compared to 2024, Sodiam, Angola’s state-owned diamond-marketing and sales division, said Monday. Sales value rose 107% to $109.7 million.

The average price per carat slid 9% to $4,706 amid difficult global market conditions, which reflect an increase in demand for synthetic diamonds and an oversupply of natural polished diamonds.

The overall growth in sales value and volume in the segment received a boost from a 176% jump in polished-diamond exports by Indian company KGK’s Angola-based manufacturing facility.

“Despite the challenges stemming from shifts in the international market, the results achieved in 2025 demonstrate the resilience of the Angolan diamond sector and reinforce the importance of investing in local beneficiation as a strategy for creating value and ensuring the sustainability of the industry,” Sodiam commented.
