Choi Gu-sik, a prospective candidate for the mayor of Jinju, Gyeongsangnam-do, held a pledge press conference at the Jinju City Hall briefing room on the morning of the 19th and announced, “I will revive the closed site of Korea International University into the nation’s largest pet park.”

The prospective candidate pointed out, “Since Korea International University closed in August 2023, the vast site and 14 buildings have been left abandoned for nearly two years.”

He argued, “Although there was a recent proposal to use this site for establishing an Aerospace Industry Promotion Agency, there is a need to transform it into the nation’s largest pet park and pet industry complex to build a private industrial ecosystem that attracts jobs and people.”
