This provided an opportunity for FashionNetwork.com to speak with the CEO, who shared his vision for the market, his strategy for Bulgari, while also revealing his new ambitious project for Rome.

FashionNetwork.com: You have just inaugurated a new manufacturing facility in Valenza, eight years after opening the “largest manufacturing facility in Europe.” Why?

Jean-Christophe Babin: It is the largest jewelry manufacturing facility in the world, meaning it works with precious materials. We are not talking about costume jewelry here. This site, born in 2017, was Bulgari’s first true, large-scale manufacturing facility, where we brought together all the crafts. We organized the production flow on a large scale while preserving the accountability of the small jewelry workshop, which often characterizes the strength of small businesses. However, this project turned out to be far too small, even though we thought it was very large. By 2020, we realized we had to expand because we were already at capacity. This is how we launched the Valenza 2 project.
