The largest flawless fancy vivid blue diamond ever discovered, known as the “Bleu Royal,” was sold for a staggering $43.8 million (approximately 200 million Malaysian Ringgit) at a Christie’s rare jewels auction in Geneva on Tuesday.

Mounted on a ring, the 17.6-carat pear-shaped brilliant diamond is one of the rarest ever unearthed. It had a pre-sale estimate of around $50 million (approximately 230 million Malaysian Ringgit).

Fawcett, Head of Jewellery at Christie’s Geneva, highlighted the diamond’s unique deep, intense blue color and its unmodified pear brilliant shape.

The auction saw Christie’s sell dozens of rare jewels, achieving a total value exceeding $77 million (approximately 360 million Malaysian Ringgit). Fawcett noted that the market for certain segments remains very strong.
