What can be bought in the DIAN auction?

The National Tax and Customs Directorate (DIAN) has launched a new round of virtual auctions in Colombia, offering cars, gold ingots, and more with base prices starting from $3.5 million. The process is conducted through the official platform “El Martillo del Banco Popular” and will be available until February 13, 2026, as reported by the entity in a statement.
These auctions bring together goods that have passed into the hands of the State following customs control processes, seizures, or abandonment. The dynamic is completely online and allows any registered citizen to consult the available lots and submit bids within the established deadlines.
Those interested must create a user account on the official platform, review the conditions of each lot, and previously deposit the required amount to participate.

What can be bought in the DIAN auction?

This edition includes vehicles, emeralds, and gold pieces. Each lot has a base value, a required deposit amount, and specific conditions that must be accepted by the participants.
One of the highlighted items is a 2006 Chevrolet Super Carry pickup truck, with a base price of $3,500,000. To bid, a prior deposit is required, and the winning bidder must assume procedures such as transfer, pending taxes, technical-mechanical inspection, and other associated obligations.

Also offered is a 1991 Harley Davidson motorcycle, with an initial value of $6,400,000. In this case, in addition to the bid amount, the buyer must cover the auction tax, corresponding VAT, and administrative costs defined on the platform.
The listing also includes three emeralds totaling 9.13 carats, with a base price of $22,825,000, and a lot consisting of three 18-karat yellow gold sheets, with a total weight of 150.4 grams, whose initial value is $32,396,160.

Conditions that interested parties must consider

The DIAN clarified that the goods are sold as-is and that it is the buyer’s responsibility to review the available information beforehand. In the case of vehicles, the winning bidder must assume taxes, mandatory insurance, technical-mechanical inspection, and any additional procedures required for legalization.
Furthermore, each lot is subject to a 5% auction tax, the established commission for the platform, and the corresponding VAT, according to current rules.
If the winner fails to meet the conditions or does not complete the payment within the specified period, they may lose the deposited amount and the lot may be offered again.
