Temis is poised for a landmark development with the upcoming construction of a major facility for precision jewelry machining, hailed as the most significant industrial project in the hub’s history.
Temis is set to welcome the largest project in its history within a few months. A 7,000 m² building dedicated to precision machining for jewelry, a specialty of the MCGP-Losange group, will be constructed.
Bruno Favier, the General Manager of the Temis hub, welcomes this future occupant, which will take up significant space, with great enthusiasm. On over two hectares, on the former site of the Lhéritier factory, a 7,000 m² building will rise from the ground. Subsequently, in less than a year, the first products should emerge from the new factory.
The MCGP-Losange group has decided to invest in this substantial project, estimated at 12.4 million euros. The company, better known as Franck & Person and currently located in Châtillon-le-Duc, is expected to leave the village within the agglomeration to centralize all its activities at the future Besançon site, where construction has recently begun.
After acquiring the Parisian high jewelry workshop Coringer in 2010, MCGP purchased the Losange group in 2012. The group specializes in the manufacturing of jewelry pieces, both in small and large series. It has another production site in Moulins, in the Allier department. From foundry work to machining, CAPM (Computer-Aided Production Management), polishing, and setting, the company possesses all the necessary skills to create finished jewelry. The group is a subcontractor for major Parisian jewelry brands, among others.
Laurent Parruite, General Manager of MCGP-Losange, confirms a significant hiring campaign.
These 150 jobs should be added to the approximately 70 employees at the current site. “The Châtillon site has become too cramped,” adds the executive. “We need to expand.”
The future factory will have BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) certification, a widely used global method for assessing the environmental performance of buildings.
It will not be growing alone: two neighboring projects—though more modest—are expected to allow the construction of buildings of 1,800 m² and 1,000 m². One of the companies specializes in medical technology. At this pace, the Temis zone will one day be labeled “full”!
