Store Closures Announced

Parent company Saks Global is closing eight Saks Fifth Avenue stores, one Neiman Marcus store, and 14 personal styling suites as part of its reorganization after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection last month. The retailer stated it is “refining” the store footprints of both brands to focus on profitable locations with the highest growth potential.

The following Saks Fifth Avenue locations are closing:
– The Summit in Birmingham, Alabama;
– Polaris Fashion Place in Columbus, Ohio;

CEO Statement
“By optimizing our operational footprint, we will be better positioned to deliver exceptional products, elevated experiences and highly personalized service across all channels, while simultaneously positioning our company to make investments that enable long-term growth and value creation,”

said Saks Global CEO Geoffroy van Raemdonck. He added,

“Importantly, opportunities within the luxury market remain strong, and Saks Global is primed to play a distinct, enduring role within the industry for many years to come.”
Personal Styling Suites and Other Changes

Saks Global is closing 14 of its Fifth Avenue Club personal styling suites. The suites were initially created to serve customers in markets without a physical Saks store. Following the 2024 acquisition of Neiman Marcus, the company stated it can now serve those markets through the acquired network. Three personal styling suites will remain in Indianapolis, Honolulu, and a new one opening in Palm Beach, Florida, this fall.
The company is also integrating the Horchow home decor business into the Neiman Marcus website starting February 19, citing efficiencies and closer integration. No changes are planned for the Bergdorf Goodman brand.

Off-Price Retail Wind Down

These operational changes follow last month’s announcement that Saks Global would close most of its Saks Off 5th and Last Call stores. Closing sales began on January 31. A select number of Saks Off 5th stores will remain open to sell residual inventory from Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, and Bergdorf Goodman, but the company will no longer purchase merchandise directly for the off-price chain. The separate Saks Off 5th website will also wind down operations.

“As we advance on Saks Global’s transformation, we are taking decisive steps to realign our business to better serve our luxury customers and drive full-price selling across our core luxury businesses,”

said van Raemdonck.
