Iksan City’s four-year streak in securing support for its root industry complex highlights a sustained commitment to strengthening South Korea’s manufacturing foundation. This continued investment in essential sectors like casting and forging is crucial for long-term industrial resilience.

Iksan City has been selected for the Ministry of SMEs and Startups’ ‘Root Industry Specialized Complex Support Project’ for four consecutive years. This project aims to foster specialized complexes for root industries, which are the foundation of manufacturing, such as casting, forging, heat treatment, plating, and welding.
The selected project, titled ‘Establishment of a Jewelry Casting Production Base and Creation of a Jewelry Industry Ecosystem in Iksan’, will receive approximately 1.5 billion KRW in national funding over three years. The goal is to build a specialized production base for jewelry casting, a key root technology for the jewelry industry, and to create a virtuous cycle ecosystem connecting material development, design, production, and sales.
Iksan City plans to utilize this project to establish a ‘Jewelry Casting Specialized Complex’ and foster it as a future growth engine industry. The city aims to develop it into a global hub for the jewelry industry by integrating it with its existing jewelry industry infrastructure.
Through this project, Iksan City expects to revitalize the local economy by attracting related companies and creating a cluster. It also plans to strengthen support for technological development and human resource training to enhance the competitiveness of the jewelry casting industry.
