Businessmen Duped with Promise of ‘Naked-Vision’ Glasses

The Crime Branch has arrested an accused who allegedly cheated several people in Jodhpur out of lakhs of rupees on the pretext of providing them with ‘chemical stone’ and ‘antique stone’ glasses.

The Deceptive Scheme

When businessmen in Jodhpur were told about glasses made from ‘antique stone’, they became quite excited and agreed to trade in these glasses. They thought they would make huge profits from such glasses, which were not even available in the market. The special feature of these glasses was that after wearing glasses made from ‘antique stone’, people would appear naked to the wearer. Showing this kind of temptation, the accused looted several businessmen in Jodhpur. The accused had come to a relative’s house here.

Police Registers Case of Lakhs in Fraud

Last year, Shastri Nagar police in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, had registered a case of fraud involving lakhs of rupees. Santoshkumar Shah, a resident of Jodhpur, was also an accused in this case. Recently, Jodhpur police found out that Santosh was in Indore. According to Crime Branch ASP Amrendrasingh, accused Santosh was arrested from Kailod Hala on information from Jodhpur police. Santosh and accomplice Manoj have committed fraud in Jodhpur in the name of a company. Santosh was the MD in the company. These people duped some businessmen on the pretext of providing them with ‘chemical stone’ and ‘antique stone’ glasses.

Extorted 4.5 Lakhs in the Name of Registration

A person informed some businessmen in Jodhpur about an ‘antique stone’ (piece of glass), telling them that a person seen from a distance through glasses made from this stone would appear naked. Upon coming closer, they would appear as a skeleton, and upon coming very close, they would become invisible. That person also said the stone was packed with chemicals and only the company could open it. The accused took 4.5 lakh rupees in the name of registration. Then they said chemicals were needed for the stone, which would have to be ordered from abroad. Lured by the stone, the businessmen paid the company more than about one crore rupees. After collecting the money, the accused absconded. The businessmen sought refuge in the court, and on the court’s instructions, the police registered a case in June 2016 and began the search. The police have handed over the accused to Jodhpur police.
