Chulalongkorn University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Gem and Jewelry Institute of Thailand (Public Organization) to enhance instruction, research, and academic services.

The agreement is to promote academic capacities as well as facilitate the exchange of research knowledge, particularly industrial and social research, and expertise between the two institutions in order to commercialize Thailand’s gem and jewelry industry and achieve international standards.

The MoU was signed by Prof. Dr. Bundhit Eua-arporn, President of Chulalongkorn University, and Mr. Sumeth Prasongphongchai, Director of the Gem and Jewelry Institute of Thailand (Public Organization). Prof. Dr. Chakkaphan Sutthirat, Vice President of Chulalongkorn University, Prof. Dr. Pranut Potiyaraj, Director of the Metallurgy and Materials Science Research Institute (MMRI), Mr. Thanong Leelawatanasuk, Deputy Director of the Gem and Jewelry Institute of Thailand (Public Organization) also participated at the ceremony and exchanged knowledge about gems and jewelry.

The Gem and Jewelry Institute of Thailand, or GIT, is a governmental organization that provides research, knowledge sharing, and training about gems and jewelry to the public, responding to the needs of the industry, upholding the standard of gems and jewelry in Thailand, and coordinating between the public and private sectors.
