End of a 7-Year Partnership

Jewelry designer Francesca Amfitheatrof is leaving Louis Vuitton after seven years of collaboration. The Paris-based luxury brand has officially confirmed her departure, announcing the end of their partnership. The company stated in a press release that both parties have decided to go their separate ways. For the time being, Louis Vuitton plans to continue designing and conceptualizing its jewelry and high jewelry collections internally.

Official Statements
“After seven years of successfully creating jewelry and high jewelry collections together, Louis Vuitton and Francesca Amfitheatrof have decided to go their separate ways. Her exceptional talent and boundless creativity have left a definitive mark on Louis Vuitton’s jewelry heritage. For the time being, Louis Vuitton will continue to design and conceptualize its jewelry and high jewelry collections internally, and Francesca Amfitheatrof will announce her new plans in due course.”
“I am truly grateful for the opportunity to create Louis Vuitton’s jewelry and high jewelry collections. I am proud of the collections and the legacy I leave behind after seven significant years. I will soon embark on exciting new challenges that I will announce in due course.”
Signature Collections

Her career at Louis Vuitton was marked by significant success. Her most recent collection, “Damier,” was inspired by the brand’s famous monogram print. The collection includes a line of checkerboard-patterned bracelets and rings, designed with a slim, central protrusion that appears remarkably thin and serpentine when worn.

“We developed one Damier ring a year ago, and as people went crazy for it, we decided to create an entire collection. Sometimes the smartest decision is right in front of you,” she said with a laugh while launching products from the new headquarters.

Last year, she unveiled a special high jewelry collection titled “Awakened Hands, Awakened Minds,” inspired by Louis Vuitton’s travel spirit and railway mechanization. The collection reflected the wonders of the industrial revolution through a symphony of platinum, yellow gold, diamonds, and golden yellow sapphires.

Career Background

Francesca Amfitheatrof joined Louis Vuitton in April 2018, a move that signaled the brand’s focus on jewelry and watches as key growth areas. Prior to this, her most significant role was as the head of jewelry design at Tiffany & Co., a position she took in 2013, becoming the first woman to hold the title. She left Tiffany in January 2018. Before that, she worked as the senior jewelry designer for the British royal jeweler Asprey & Garrard and handled jewelry design for Chanel, Balenciaga, Fendi, and Marni. She also spent three years as a curator at the Gucci Museum in Florence.

Recent Activities

During her tenure at Louis Vuitton, Francesca Amfitheatrof continued designing for other brands. Earlier this month, her Instagram account featured a photo of A$AP Rocky wearing Psyche and Cupid, her first necklace for the legendary Venetian jewelry brand Maison Codognato.
