The government has expanded the list of airports where gems and jewellery can be imported or exported via personal carriage, now including Ahmedabad. This move aligns the city’s airport with other major hubs already offering this facility.
Government Authorization
The government has authorized the import and export of gems and jewellery parcels through personal carriage at Ahmedabad Airport, according to a Commerce Ministry notification. This option is already available at Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Jaipur airports.
Official Statement
“Now, the import and export of gems and jewellery parcels for personal carriage are also permitted through Ahmedabad airport,”
the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has said.
