Editor’s Note
This story follows a young woman’s pursuit of identity and validation through the lens of reality television, exploring themes of ambition, self-worth, and the often-elusive nature of fame.

Liane, a 19-year-old, reckless and incandescent, lives with her mother and younger sister under the dusty sun of Fréjus. Obsessed with beauty and the need to become someone, she sees reality TV as a possibility to be loved. Destiny finally seems to smile upon her when she auditions for “Miracle Island.”
An impressive first film from a very promising director – Agathe Riedinger – who introduces us to a young actress, omnipresent, the very accurate Malou Khebizi in a difficult role balancing precariously between elegance and vulgarity. The script follows this young woman, almost still a teenager, for a month as she dreams of finding love, fame, and wealth by becoming a participant in a trendy reality show.
This first film was honored with a place in the official competition at the latest Cannes Film Festival. Its entire first part is quite captivating. The director films with a certain form of fascination this youth weaned on social networks and reality TV. Without ever passing judgment on the dreams and ambitions of her character, she paints the portrait of a determined young woman who decides to shape her own destiny… This film was presented in Competition at the Cannes Film Festival 2024.
