The owner of a remarkable gemstone, who wishes to remain anonymous, has stated that due to its extraordinary size, the stone is unsuitable for jewelry and is destined to become a museum piece. He described his immediate decision to purchase it upon sight, suspecting it could be of global significance.

The stone already has a name. He named it “The Star of Adam,” after a Muslim legend that says the prophet Adam arrived in Sri Lanka when God expelled him from the Garden of Eden.

The demand for sapphires grew significantly after Kate Middleton wore an engagement ring decorated with this stone at her wedding to Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge.
Sri Lanka is one of the world’s largest producers. Its Minister of Industry and Commerce, Rishad Bathiudeen, said that the export of precious stones grew by 135% between 2010 and 2014.
