BIZOUX, a jewelry brand handling over 100 types of natural colored stones, has launched new jewelry pieces using lab-grown alexandrite as part of its sustainable jewelry line featuring “Lab-Grown Gemstones.”
The Lab-Grown series utilizes gemstones cultivated in laboratories. Since 2022, BIZOUX has been developing jewelry using various “Lab-Grown Colored Stones” such as alexandrite, padparadscha sapphire, blue diamond, and star ruby, known for their high purity, excellent color, and transparency.
This new release features jewelry made with “Lab-Grown Alexandrite,” which realizes the properties of alexandrite, often called the “king of gemstones,” through lab cultivation. The new pieces lavishly use stones that fully showcase alexandrite’s most distinctive feature: a dramatic color change from green to burgundy (a deep red) depending on the light source. The lineup includes rings, necklaces, and pendant tops in two distinct designs.
“Coffret” is one of BIZOUX’s staple series, featuring jewelry designed to recreate the thrill of opening a jewelry box. It is characterized by an asymmetrical design that breaks conventional jewelry norms. The openwork design, which combines 17 colored stones of varying sizes in an exquisite balance to highlight each stone’s character, offers both glamour and a sense of luxury.
The new pieces in this series are crafted using lab-grown alexandrite. This luxurious jewelry features four types of cuts, totaling 17 stones, of alexandrite—one of the world’s three major rare gemstones. The stunning color change unique to alexandrite, from forest green to burgundy, can be enjoyed through four distinct cuts including pear shape and princess cut.
“Seram” is a popular series featuring a single, carefully selected gemstone as the centerpiece, known for its refined and stylish design. The new release incorporates a large lab-grown alexandrite into this design, launching it as “Seram L.”
The new “Seram L” series allows one to luxuriously enjoy this coveted gemstone precisely because it’s “Lab-Grown Alexandrite,” available in a generous size of approximately 7mm. The stylish design is recommended for daily wear, and stacking rings from this series with rings featuring different gemstones is popular. It is available as a ring and a pendant top.
Lab-grown gemstones, particularly diamonds, have been gaining attention recently. Gemstones cultivated using advanced science and technology are supported from a sustainability perspective for their lower environmental impact, contributing to the effective use of finite resources.
The raw material used this time is natural alexandrite rough ore that was previously left behind due to factors like inferior crystallization or transparency. This ore is refined and recrystallized in a lab that replicates the natural process of gemstone formation in magma. The manufacturing is carried out by Kyocera Corporation in Kyoto and is trademarked under the name “Crescent-Verl.” The process is also certified under the international environmental management system standard “ISO 14001.”
The composition is identical to that of natural stones. Because they are grown in an ideal environment for the stone, they possess high transparency, purity, and excellent durability. A major appeal of these gemstones is the ability to cultivate rough stones (loose gems) of types, sizes, and shapes that are difficult to mine.
Driven by this philosophy, BIZOUX has been developing a jewelry series using lab-grown colored stones since 2022, focusing on rare stones like alexandrite, blue diamond, and padparadscha sapphire.
