This report details a significant five-year power supply agreement between Moxi Power Generation (an Adani Power unit) and Tamil Nadu’s state distribution utility. The contract underscores ongoing developments in India’s energy procurement landscape.
New Delhi, February 24 (Bhasha) – Moxi Power Generation, a power unit of Adani Power, has secured a contract to supply 558 megawatts (MW) of power to the Tamil Nadu Power Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO) for a period of five years.
According to a company statement issued on Tuesday, Moxi Power operates a 1,200 MW (2X 600 MW) power plant in Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu. Adani Power, with a generation capacity of 18.15 gigawatts (GW), is India’s largest private power producer.
As per the statement, Moxi Power Generation Limited (MPGL), a subsidiary of Adani Power, has been awarded the contract by Tamil Nadu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (TANGEDCO) to supply 558 MW (net) of power for five years.
MPGL secured this contract by emerging as the lowest bidder in a highly competitive tender, proposing a tariff of ₹5.910 per unit. The supply is scheduled to commence from April 1, 2026.
With this agreement, both units of the plant now have power supply agreements, and over 95% of Adani Power’s total operational capacity is secured under medium to long-term contracts.
The company aims to achieve nearly 100% Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) for all its operational and upcoming plants in the coming year.
This power supply agreement is expected to make an additional 558 MW of reliable and high-quality power available to consumers in Tamil Nadu. It will strengthen grid stability and help provide uninterrupted power supply to homes, businesses, and industries.
With power secured at a competitive tariff, consumers are likely to benefit from more affordable and reliable energy in the coming years.
Adani Power is India’s largest private thermal power producer.
