Morellato is expanding its portfolio. The Italian jewelry company has acquired a majority stake in the German jewelry supplier Christ Group, previously owned by the 3i group. Additionally, with the acquisition, Morellato has obtained the three brands owned by Christ: Valmano, Brinckmann, and Lange.
The Italian jewelry group controls its own brands and has expanded its portfolio in recent years through the acquisition of several companies. Three years ago, the group acquired the French company Cleor, as well as the Italian company Kronoshop and the French company Mister Watch.
With the acquisition of Christ, Morellato will increase its sales to up to €800 million and will surpass 620 stores in Italy, Germany, and Austria. The goal of this acquisition is to “become the leading multi-brand jewelry retailer in Europe.” “With its deep-rooted presence in Germany and Austria and its cutting-edge e-commerce model, Christ Group is the ideal acquisition for us,” explained Massimo Carraro, President of Morellato.

“Together, we will accelerate the strategic activities and development of Christ Group as part of the Morellato Group,” explained Stephan Hungelin, CEO of Christ, on his part.

A few months ago, the Italian group also acquired the French jewelry company Pierre Roux.

“With this new acquisition, we confirm our desire to develop our presence in the French market,” Carraro stated at the time.

Morellato closed 2022 with revenues of €370 million and employs more than 2,500 people.
The Italian jewelry company was founded in 1930 when entrepreneur Giulio Morellato opened a watch and jewelry workshop in the town of Fratte di Santa Giustina in Colle, in Padua (Italy). In the 1990s, Massimo and Marco Carraro, sons of a collaborator of the founder, took over the company and are the current presidents.
