A strong, lasting, permanent bond between Garrard and the royal family. The British high jewelry Maison, since the mid-19th century, has created many of the precious pieces worn by members of the British royal crown; commissions throughout history have included tiaras, rings, scepters, and armills, worn by Queen Mary to Queen Elizabeth II, from Queen Victoria to King George V, and more recently, by Princess Diana, the Duchess of Cambridge, and Princess Beatrice of York.
Today, on the occasion of the coronation of King Charles III, scheduled for Saturday, May 6, 2023, the Garrard jewelry archives are opened at Albemarle Street, in the heart of London. The jewelry workshop of the luxury label opens its doors to show the book that marks the chronology of masterpieces commissioned for the British crown; creations that, for more than two centuries, have been produced by the hands of great masters.

Among the most majestic jewelry accessories created by the brand are the Imperial State Crown, made for the coronation of King George VI, and the tiara worn by Queen Elizabeth II during her marriage to Prince Philip. Also, the famous Koh-i-Noor diamond, first used for a royal crown of Queen Victoria, then passed to the coronation crown of Queen Mary, and finally placed on the crown of the Queen Mother, where it remains today, is part of the Garrard collection.
The relationship between the British royal crown and the label as the first official crown jeweler lasted until 2007. Indeed, even in more recent times, Garrard has been responsible for creating some of the royal family’s precious pieces, such as Princess Diana’s engagement ring, later passed to Kate Middleton. But it doesn’t end there: the crown that will be worn by the future King Charles III is also designed by Garrard and includes the incredible Cullinan diamond. A story of jewelry as works of art, which never ceases to amaze.
