**Editor’s Note:** Italy’s ‘Diva’ exhibition at the National Museum of Costume Jewelry in Rabat showcases 200 pieces from top designers like Gucci, spanning 70 years of tradition and innovation.
Italy inaugurated on Tuesday in Rabat the exhibition of Italian costume jewelry at the National Museum of Costume Jewelry. Under the name ‘Diva’, the extensive exhibition brings together two hundred pieces created by Italian designers over the past seventy years, where tradition and innovation converge.
Gucci, Giacinto, and Rossi are among the illustrious names in the world of fashion and design that come together in this eclectic exhibition of incalculable value.
The exhibition, curated by Alba Cappellieri, also reflects the evolution of Italian costume jewelry, as materials once used by Italian designers such as coral, volcanic stone, and ceramics are now finding new life thanks to the use of technology and innovation in design.
The exhibition is held at the National Museum of Costume Jewelry, located in a historic building founded in the 18th century within the mythical Kasbah of the Udayas in Rabat.
‘Diva’ will open to the general public starting this Wednesday, May 24, and its treasures of Italian jewelry can be visited for two months during opening hours.
Among the pieces that will be exhibited in the coming days in the Maghreb city are a brass and crystal necklace designed by Gucci in 2018, another made of paper by Sandra de Giacinto in 2006, and a third in the shape of a snake made of aluminum, acetate, and Swarovski crystals.
This last piece, designed by Tita Rossi in 1969, was part of the collection of Italian actress Sophia Loren, as were several other jewelry pieces in the exhibition that were for years the property of famous Italians.
