This article explores the rising trend of permanent jewelry in Germany, detailing its appeal, everyday wearability, and pricing—from €50 for rings to €70 and up for bracelets, depending on material.
In the United States, permanent jewelry has been a trend for a long time. Slowly but surely, permanent jewelry is also becoming increasingly popular in Germany. Permanent bracelets in particular are among the jewelry trends for 2024. We explain how this jewelry trend works, whether it is comfortable to wear in everyday life, and for whom it is especially suitable.
The cost of permanent jewelry can vary depending on the provider. Key factors include the type of jewelry piece and the material used. Prices for rings typically start at around 50 euros, and for bracelets at 70 euros. Depending on the material, the cost can be significantly higher.
The concept of permanent jewelry is actually quite simple: it is jewelry that you wear all the time – and consequently, you cannot (or can only with difficulty) remove it. The most popular piece of this type is likely the permanent bracelet, but permanent rings or necklaces are also possible. This is achieved by soldering the jewelry piece onto a clasp so that it can no longer be opened. Typically, thin gold or silver chains are used, which do not interfere with daily activities and, thanks to their high quality, do not need to be removed for showering, bathing, or swimming, as they are waterproof.
This all sounds a bit crazy at first, but it does have several advantages and is, in a way, a more stylish alternative to a friendship bracelet or a less permanent version of a partner tattoo. Permanent jewelry can therefore be worn symbolically, but it is also a great piece of jewelry on its own.
These advantages are compelling:
– Cannot be lost

– Is always there, enhancing any outfit without having to think much about jewelry
– Is very delicate and easy to combine
– Is very comfortable to wear and barely noticeable
– Available in many different styles
Of course, there are also a few disadvantages:
– May not match every other piece of jewelry (if you don’t want to mix gold and silver)
– Cannot be removed by yourself
– Can be bothersome if it is too tight or too loose

I have been wearing a permanent bracelet for several months now and am absolutely satisfied so far. I was initially skeptical about whether the bracelet would still look like it did on the first day after several months, or if it would discolor or show signs of wear. But so far, my bracelet continues to shine. I also find the wearing comfort very pleasant and have never felt the need to take it off. This is, of course, also because my bracelet fits perfectly. I had it put on at Sister in Berlin. The process itself was super fast, but beforehand, sufficient time was taken for consultation and finding the perfect length. What I particularly like about the permanent bracelet is that I now always wear jewelry. I used to often forget to put it on, but now I don’t have to think about it and I can’t lose it anywhere. Even though it is just a thin bracelet, it makes a statement. I always wear my rather chunky Oura Ring with it and really like this combination. By the way, I never used to wear bracelets because I always found them impractical, but because the chain is so thin, I don’t have that feeling at all.
With permanent jewelry, you can instantly upgrade your outfit. You can find more tips on this here:
Nowadays, there are jewelry stores in more and more cities that offer permanent jewelry. Usually, you need to book an appointment online. Especially in large cities like Berlin or Munich, there are often various providers. It’s best to compare prices and selection options beforehand.
As the name suggests, permanent jewelry is meant to be worn all the time. In everyday life, there is no situation where you cannot wear it. Whether during sports, swimming, or in the shower, the thin chains can handle everything if they fit properly. You can also get through airport security without any issues. You only need to remove the jewelry for a surgical procedure or medical examinations like an MRI. In such cases, you can either have the jewelry removed by the provider or carefully cut it open at the solder point with nail scissors. You can then keep the band and have it re-welded later or have a clasp installed. This also applies if you simply no longer want to wear your bracelet, necklace, or ring.
