Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi (65) received the Special Award at the 37th Japan Jewelry Best Dresser Awards, which honors celebrities who suit jewelry, and attended the award ceremony held in Tokyo on the 4th. She had just returned from her first visit to India the previous evening, on the 3rd, and greeted attendees wearing jewelry worth a total of ¥26 million. She revealed that the pearls she wears for official duties are heirlooms from her mother. Other winners also took the stage, including Minami Hamabe (25) in the 20s category and Marika Matsumoto (41) in the 40s category.
Prime Minister Takaichi appeared in a chic ensemble of a black dress and white jacket. Her jewelry, including a necklace featuring heart-shaped gold pearls, sparkled with a total value of ¥26 million. She said in her greeting:

“I am truly delighted and honored to receive such a wonderful award.”

The previous evening, on the 3rd, Prime Minister Takaichi returned to Haneda Airport by air from her first three-day visit to India. The journey covered approximately 5,860 kilometers, and she arrived at the Prime Minister’s Official Residence at 11:21 PM that same day.
For official duties, she typically wears white pearl necklaces. Reporting on her return from India, she emphasized,

“Of course, I wore them during the Japan-India summit meeting as well.”

She expressed her attachment, saying,

“Most of the pearls are heirlooms from my mother. I shorten the longer strands and use the leftover pearls to make earrings, cherishing them in various forms.”

She also commented on the necklace she wore at the event:

“I understand that pearl cultivation originated in Japan. With Japanese technology, each pearl is carefully cultivated, turned into such beautiful products, and delivered around the world. I believe this truly represents Japan’s underlying strength.”

Reflecting on the brilliance of the jewelry, she passionately stated,

“I will work hard so that people can feel that Japan’s future is bright.”

Meanwhile, she humbly addressed the other winners present, including Minami Hamabe, Atsuko Maeda (34), and Marika Matsumoto, saying,

“I’m a bit nervous. Truly, everyone here looks wonderful in jewelry… Congratulations.”

The remark drew laughter from the audience.
Minami Hamabe won the award for the second time, seven years after her first win in the teens category in 2019. With a radiant expression, she shared,

“When I buy jewelry, I often make a promise to myself to become someone worthy of the jewelry.”

Marika Matsumoto appeared in jewelry worth a total of ¥150 million, including diamonds. She smiled and encouraged the audience, saying,

“Everyone has a diamond in their heart. I hope you can make it shine and live a sparkling life.”
