The jewelry industry is consolidating its role as one of the most relevant sectors for the economy of Jalisco, generating around 20,000 jobs in the state, of which 70 percent are held by women, according to data presented during the inauguration of Expo Joya 2025. The president of the chamber of the sector, Lourdes Cázares Ruíz, indicated that it is a growing sector but faces major challenges, such as imports.
Each year, Jalisco produces nearly 40 million pieces of jewelry, equivalent to 20 tons of gold and 70 tons of silver, positioning it as the country’s main producer. Furthermore, 70 percent of the national jewelry industry is present in Guadalajara and its metropolitan area.
According to the Jalisco Jewelry Chamber, the state maintains a solid export capacity, with foreign sales exceeding 392 million dollars, mainly to the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Indonesia, and Switzerland. For 2025, export growth of 17 percent is estimated.
