The age-old question of whether the chicken or the egg came first is one that’s still up for debate, but Montreal-based jewellery brand Studio Rybko has a definitive take: It was the egg. Representative of rebirth and creation, this ovoid object is the signature motif that the newly hatched jeweller centres in all its sculptural designs.

Studio Rybko founder Raphaël Ribkoff, the son of Canadian fashion designer Joseph Ribkoff, says he followed in his father’s footsteps, studying fashion marketing and design at Montreal’s LaSalle College, but found himself in search of something more.

“I started looking at different opportunities and avenues, and that’s when I fell upon jewellery making classes,” he says. “I started taking classes as a sort of pastime, and I really took a liking to it and had a natural ability to create it. I’m a very ‘attention to detail’ kind of person.”

What began as a hobby evolved into a true passion as Ribkoff discovered 3D design, through which he further honed his skills and utilized the art of jewellery making as a means of self-expression. Thus, Studio Rybko was born. Tied back to its core themes of new beginnings and renewal, the brand’s name is an ode to the family’s original surname—which Raphaël says his grandfather changed to Ribkoff when he emigrated from Poland to Canada.

With jewellery lovers predicted to reach for pieces that experiment with new forms (see Simone Rocha and Collina Strada‘s spring/summer 2026 shows) and kaleidoscopic details (see Prada and Saint Laurent’s spring/summer 2026 presentations) in 2026, Studio Rybko’s first collection arrives at the perfect moment. Ribkoff came up with the idea for the launch, dubbed “Goog” over breakfast one morning.

“I was looking at the egg and thinking about how much effort and time goes into creating such a simple and pure shape,” he explained. “At that moment, I was like, ‘This is the shape I want to bring into my design world and just work a whole collection around it.’”

Two years in the making, the result is a nature-inspired lineup that contains geometric rings, bracelets, earrings and pendants in solid 14 carat gold with colourful, hand-applied enamel finishes. Each of the six signature enamel shades is named after the natural hues of bird eggs: butter yellow yolk, pale blue robin, farmer’s yolk marigold, rich green emu, deep bordeaux and classic shell. Every detail, from the repetition of the egg silhouette to the yolk-coloured packaging, feels intentional and well-thought-out.

When I ask Ribkoff which Goog piece best reflects the brand, he settles on the Eternity Ring he’s wearing on his own finger.

“It’s a take on a classic. The ‘eternity ring’ is something that is well-known in the jewellery world, so it’s our take on it,” he says.

The stackable ring features a dozen miniature eggs that encircle the band in customizable gold and enamel finishes. It’s a tangible symbol of continuity and all that the brand represents, and we couldn’t agree more.
