Editor’s Note
The 2026 Met Gala reasserted fashion’s dialogue with art history, as the “Costume Art” theme and “Fashion Is Art” dress code underscored the dressed body’s central place in the museum’s collection. Notably, two international tastemakers chose CINDY CHAO jewelry, affirming the role of wearable art in this annual philanthropic event.
The 2026 Met Gala, held at the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art on May 4th local time, was grandly staged. This year’s exhibition theme is “Costume Art,” which juxtaposes precious costumes from the Costume Institute’s collection with paintings and sculptures spanning 5,000 years of art history, exploring “the central role of the dressed body within the museum’s vast collection.”
The evening’s dress code was set as “Fashion Is Art,” re-examining the inseparable deep connection between fashion and art history. This year, two highly influential international celebrities and art collectors coincidentally chose to wear CINDY CHAO pieces at the Met Gala series of events, responding to the annual charity event with jewelry art.
Isha Ambani, daughter of Mukesh Ambani, chairman of India’s Reliance Industries—one of the world’s most influential business families—and a prominent collector in the international social and fashion art scene, specially wore the CINDY CHAO White Label Collection Violet Earrings from her family’s collection at the official Met Gala pre-party last weekend. This not only showcased her extraordinary artistic taste but also confirmed the deep artistic resonance CINDY CHAO’s works evoke among the world’s top noble families. The White Label Collection Violet Earrings feature delicate floral contours crafted from lightweight titanium, with precious natural Caribbean conch pearls paired with lifelike stamens. The visual feast of interwoven pink, yellow, and violet hues perfectly complements Isha Ambani’s noble and elegant demeanor, making them a heirloom-worthy collectible choice.

Founded over 20 years ago, CINDY CHAO has created art jewelry embodying the three artistic essences of “architectural sense, sculptural quality, and vitality,” earning permanent collections in three major international authoritative museums. Jewelry artist Cindy Chao inherits architectural thinking and sculpting craftsmanship, starting with wax carving and using titanium and mixed materials to weave hardness and softness, outlining the rich layers and life tension of her works. This has made her pieces the top choice for many celebrities attending international events, witnessing significant moments for countless noble families.
Cindy Chao grew up in an artistic family, inheriting the three-dimensional thinking of her architect grandfather and the sculpting skills of her sculptor father, opening an aesthetic vision that blends East and West. Her artistic creation uses jewelry as a medium, embracing a concept that transcends time and promoting cultural exchange and development between East and West. In 2021, the French Ministry of Culture awarded Cindy Chao the “Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters” in recognition of her contributions to the inheritance and innovation of jewelry craftsmanship. In 2024, she was invited by the Haute École de Joaillerie in Paris, the world’s top cradle for jewelry talent, to serve as its first Asian artist mentor in nearly 160 years, imparting her unique creative vision through exquisite wax carving techniques, inspiring and guiding outstanding students to complete the Louvre wax carving art project.
Museum-collectible art jewelry brand CINDY CHAO The Art Jewel, founded in 2004, combines Eastern cultural heritage with Western exquisite craftsmanship, integrating the three artistic essences of “architectural sense, sculptural quality, and vitality” into its creations. Jewelry artist Cindy Chao continues to explore the cultural definition of art jewelry with an aesthetic vision that transcends national and linguistic boundaries, carrying forward aesthetic heritage. Invited multiple times to participate in and win awards at international authoritative art fairs such as the Biennale des Antiquaires in Paris, TEFAF, and Masterpiece London, CINDY CHAO The Art Jewel is also the only Chinese art jewelry brand whose works have been permanently collected by three major international authoritative museums: the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History in the USA, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, and the Victoria and Albert Museum in the UK, solidifying its status as “museum-collectible art jewelry.”
