**Editor’s Note:** This article is based on a press release from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, detailing the inaugural export shipment under the new India-UK trade agreement.
Following the implementation of the new India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA), the first export consignment (containers) from the ICD CONCOR depot in Kanakpura, Jaipur, was flagged off to the United Kingdom today. The event was organized in collaboration with the Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH).
Senior officials from the government and trade sectors were present at the event. These included Assistant Commissioner of Customs, Shri Shankara Raman; DGFT official Shri Ram Prakash; and CONCOR Assistant Manager Shri Ram C. Bhagat. They were joined by EPCH Regional Coordinator Shri Girish Agarwal, Regional Officer Shri Amit Bhargav, and Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) Regional Director Shri Nitin Khandelwal.
Business leaders from Jaipur also participated, including Shri Vishal Chaudhary and Smt. Savitra Chaudhary from M/s Parampara, Shri J.K. Oswal from M/s Polymedicure Limited, and Shri Atul Goyal from M/s ArtAsia. Numerous other exporters from the handicraft, jewelry, and pharmaceutical sectors were also in attendance.
As an initial step, a total of 4 containers were dispatched to the UK today, carrying goods valued at a total of £168,395.54 (GBP).
During the program, attending traders were informed about the significant benefits expected from the Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) India is signing with countries around the world. Officials specifically discussed how this new India-UK agreement will benefit products manufactured in Jaipur and its surrounding districts—such as handicrafts, gems and jewelry, and pharmaceuticals—in the UK market.
