Aigan Co., Ltd., which operates the eyewear specialty chain “Megane no Aigan,” is launching UV-cut sunglasses featuring Snufkin as the second installment of its exclusive design “MOOMIN DESIGN MEGANE COLLECTION,” which incorporates the world of Moomin and Nordic artistry into eyewear. Sales began on July 10, 2026 (Friday) at Megane no Aigan stores nationwide and its official online shop.
Following the first installment featuring Little My, this collection focuses on “Snufkin.” A traveler who loves freedom and solitude, Snufkin is the best friend of Moomintroll and Little My’s half-brother (Snufkin being the younger sibling). His charm is lavishly expressed through multiple sunglasses. The lineup allows wearers to incorporate Snufkin’s free and powerful energy into their daily lives simply by putting them on. Designed as UV-cut sunglasses perfect for summer, they are crafted to be long-lasting everyday companions, leveraging the technical expertise Aigan has cultivated over many years.
In this collection, Snufkin’s identity is embedded even in the minute details (parts) of the eyewear. Four models are offered, easy for daily use and tailored to different styles, all equipped with UV-cut lenses ideal for summer sunlight. The lineup includes:
– “SFS-3601: Classic Boston” combining linear smartness with rounded gentleness
– “SFS-3602: Stylish Wellington” with a polygonal shape that gently embraces sunlight
– “SFS-3603: Modern Boston” highlighting the beauty of gradient-colored lenses
– “SFS-3604: Active Boston” featuring a distinctive gold metal bridge
The sunglasses come with an original case and cleaning cloth in a beautiful forest green color. The design features Snufkin’s adorable back view, designed to bring a smile to your face every time you take them out of your bag. The product is available in 4 models, each in 3 colors (12 variations total), priced at ¥9,900 (tax included). Prescription lenses are available for an additional fee starting from ¥5,500 (tax included).
This project, launched in spring 2026, has already confirmed continuations up to a third installment. It plans to project the unique identities of the story’s characters into eyewear, offering a high-quality experience that blends Aigan’s solid eyewear craftsmanship with the philosophical world of Moomin, beloved worldwide.
