In the national capital Delhi, the city of Nawabs Lucknow, and the Pink City Jaipur, the price of 24-carat gold is recorded at ₹1,43,430 per 10 grams, while in all three cities, the price of 22-carat gold, popular for jewelry making, stands at ₹1,31,490 per 10 grams.

Finally, in the planned city of Chandigarh in North India, gold prices remained similar to Delhi, where buyers are paying ₹1,43,430 for 24-carat gold and ₹1,31,490 for 22-carat gold per 10 grams.
Following gold’s footsteps, silver prices are also in a bearish phase. Due to a decline in industrial demand and disinterest from jewelry sellers, silver has fallen to ₹2,34,900 per kilogram in the domestic market on the morning of July 17. On the global front, spot gold is trading at $4,030.84 per ounce and spot silver at $56.79 per ounce in international markets, putting direct pressure on the domestic market.
Amid these fluctuations in prices, government data has surprised everyone. During the April-June 2026 quarter, gold imports in the country surged to $11.01 billion, compared to just $7.49 billion in the same quarter last year. This data clearly shows that despite high prices, the country’s appetite for gold has not diminished, and the current decline could attract investors back to the market.
