Brilliant Earth Expands Into Watches

San Francisco — Brilliant Earth has announced it is expanding into watches. Its foray into timepieces is marked by the launch of a limited-edition offering of Swiss watches called “The Solstice” collection.
It comprises 100 timepieces, each manufactured in Switzerland in partnership with Louis Erard, an independent Swiss watchmaker with nearly a century of horological heritage.

The “Summer Solstice” model features a green dial and is limited to 65 pieces, while the “Winter Solstice,” which has a white dial, is limited to 35 pieces.
A polished stainless-steel case and sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating house the intricate grained dial. The Summer Solstice’s dial features applied baton indices while the Winter Solstice has lab-grown diamond hour markers.
The timepieces incorporate design cues from the brand’s sunlight-inspired “Sol” collection, said Brilliant Earth, which is seen through the bright cut border edge on the watch crown, the nature-inspired tones, restrained sophistication, and precision detailing.

“For years, customers have asked us to bring our design perspective into new categories, and watchmaking felt like the most natural answer,” said Beth Gerstein, co-founder and CEO of Brilliant Earth.

Gerstein and Eric Grossberg founded Brilliant Earth in 2005. Twenty years on, the brand has grown into a publicly traded company with 42 showrooms across the United States and customers in more than 50 countries worldwide.
It is both a commemoration of the brand’s legacy and a signal of new market opportunities for the company, it said.

“Brilliant Earth has always been in the business of marking life’s most meaningful moments,” said Gerstein. “A timepiece is the ultimate expression of that mission: it doesn’t just mark the moment; it measures every one that follows. We are thrilled to introduce this limited-edition collection to both commemorate our 20-year history and to enter a new category that consumers have been asking us to do for years.”

The Solstice collection launched this month, and according to the brand, it is positioned as a serious collector’s acquisition. The Summer Solstice model retails for $3,995, and the Winter Solstice retails for $4,995. It is available on Brilliant Earth’s website and in-store at select Brilliant Earth showrooms.
