A new royal wedding is expected at Windsor Castle in 2027. On July 13, 2026, Princess Margaret’s grandson, Samuel Chatto, and Eleanor Exceljan announced their engagement. The couple posted three photos on Instagram: two of them together, and one of the engagement ring that 29-year-old Samuel gave during the proposal. The caption reads: “We are so happy to share our engagement with Ellie. We are over the moon.” The couple met while studying art history at the University of Edinburgh. In 2022, they made their relationship public at the “Little Black Book Party” hosted annually by Tatler magazine for British singles. This June, they attended the wedding of Peter Phillips and Harriet Sperling together, arriving at All Saints Church in Kenilworth.
Samuel, who is Queen Elizabeth’s great-nephew, also revealed on Instagram that he made the engagement ring himself for the proposal. A ceramic artist, Samuel chose to shape his art as a token of love. The simple yet sophisticated porcelain ring was designed and crafted by him. He wrote on Instagram: “I proposed to her with a porcelain ring I made myself.”
According to Jessica Flynn Allen, who has over 15 years of experience in designing and crafting high-end jewelry, a porcelain engagement ring is extremely rare. The designer told Hello! magazine:
According to the designer, the material symbolizes “strength to overcome challenges and unwavering love.” The ring is set with no diamonds or other stones, and its value is estimated by the designer to be between £500 and £1,000. The wedding is planned for spring 2027.
