【Wingen-sur-M】After the Louvre, Another Museum in France Robbed; Stolen Jewelry Valued at Up to 4 Million Euros

A glass art museum in France was robbed over the past weekend, with damages estimated at several million dollars.

According to AFP, a robbery occurred on July 5 at the Lalique Glass Museum in France. Sources stated that the stolen jewelry was worth several million dollars.
Authorities have not yet determined the number of thieves who broke into the museum in Wingen-sur-Moder (northeastern France). The incident took place around 5:30 a.m. (local time), and the thieves targeted the jewelry gallery.

The Lalique Museum announced on its official website that it will remain closed for several days due to the incident.
A caretaker was the first to arrive at the scene and alerted the police, even before the security company could complete its inspection. Authorities are now carefully reviewing surveillance camera footage.

The Lalique Museum, opened in 2011 near the factory of the eponymous company, specializes in exhibiting the works of René Lalique, a renowned jewelry designer and glassmaker in the Art Nouveau and Art Deco styles.
This theft has brought the security systems of French museums and art galleries under even closer scrutiny.

Last October, the Louvre in Paris was robbed in broad daylight. The thieves stole jewelry worth up to $102 million in just eight minutes.
